Providence Master Association Board Meeting Highlights
|
| |
|
During the January Board of Directors meeting, the Board held a discussion regarding meeting participation. Board members reiterated that regular board meetings are conducted primarily for observation and listening, rather than voting, and that attendance has historically been open as long as participants remain respectful and non-disruptive. Voting matters are handled during formal membership meetings using established rosters and procedures.
Regarding meeting locations, the Northern Terrace clubhouse is unavailable after the Northern Terrace Community rescinded its invitation. The Board also reached out to Sky Canyon to secure a location closer to Providence; however, Sky Canyon advised that it is not accepting reservations due to renovations scheduled through May 2026.
As a result, the Board continues to explore alternative meeting locations that are closer to the Providence community. For now, meetings will continue to be held at Findlay Honda in Centennial Hills.
The homeowner forum also included discussion related to the Finance Committee, which was listed as an agenda item. A statement submitted by a resident shared concerns about past committee operations and expressed an opinion regarding whether the committee should continue.
No board motion or vote regarding the Finance Committee was taken during this meeting, and the discussion was limited to resident commentary during the open forum.
A brief discussion also occurred regarding community security, which appeared on the agenda specifically as a rate adjustment item. During the homeowner forum, a resident commented positively on the performance of the security team and recommended considering an increase in compensation.
No formal board action or vote on security took place during this meeting, and the comments were received as part of the open forum discussion.
In addition to board business, the meeting highlighted the success of the Santa Selfie Contest, held in December at the North Terrace Clubhouse. The event brought neighbors together and showcased the holiday spirit of the community.
The Board extends sincere thanks to the volunteers who organized and supported the event, as well as to the generous residents and businesses who donated prizes. Their contributions helped make the event a festive and memorable experience for all who participated.
The next Providence Master Homeowners Association Board Meeting is scheduled for March 10th, 2026 at 6:00 pm. |

LVMPD Substation Construction Hours Adjusted & Safety Reminder
|

Construction is currently underway at the corner of Grand Teton & Hualapai, a project that will include a city park and an LVMPD substation next to the Green Valley Grocery.
In response to resident concerns—particularly regarding early morning noise—the contractor has adjusted construction start times to approximately 7:30 a.m. Residents had complained construction was starting with loud jackhammering at 6:30 a.m. The city has confirmed that they are actively addressing community feedback.
Important safety reminder: Residents are asked not to enter or wander onto the construction site. Heavy equipment is in use, and entering the site poses a serious safety risk. If you have questions, concerns, or complaints, please do not approach workers on-site.
Instead, residents are encouraged to contact Las Vegas City Council Ward 6 directly:
City officials have emphasized that all concerns received through these channels are being reviewed and addressed as appropriate.
Thank you for helping keep our community safe.

Sexual Assault Is a Serious Crime: LVMPD Offers Awareness, Prevention, and Support
|
| |
|
Sexual assault is a serious crime that impacts individuals, families, and entire communities. It can happen to anyone, at any age, and often involves someone the victim knows or trusts. Addressing this issue requires awareness, compassion, and a shared commitment to safety and accountability.
Law enforcement and victim advocacy organizations take every report of sexual assault seriously. Survivors deserve to be heard, supported, and protected, while offenders must be held accountable. Just as importantly, communities play a vital role in prevention through education, vigilance, and looking out for one another.
LVMPD Northwest Area Command offered this advice about staying informed and aware to help reduce risk:
- Trust your instincts. If something feels off, remove yourself from the situation.
- Watch out for one another by staying in groups and checking in with friends or family.
- Be cautious with alcohol or substances, as impairment can increase vulnerability.
- Stay aware of your surroundings, especially when you are alone.
- Understand that consent must always be clear, willing, coherent, and ongoing.
It is also important to recognize that sexual assault is often committed by someone familiar to the victim, not a stranger. This reality calls for education, open conversations, and believing survivors when they come forward.
If you or someone you know is a victim of sexual assault:
- Call 911 immediately in an emergency.
- Free and confidential support is available 24/7 through Sexual Assault Crisis at (702) 366-1640.
No one should face sexual assault alone. Survivors deserve compassion, access to resources, and justice. By staying informed, supporting one another, and taking concerns seriously, we can help foster a safer and more supportive community for everyone. |

Emergency Plumbing Repairs: How to Choose the Right Plumber When Time Matters
|
| |
|
A burst pipe, sewer backup, or water heater failure never happens at a convenient time. In an emergency, it’s tempting to hire the first plumber who answers the phone, but in Nevada, that decision can have serious consequences long after the water stops flowing.
First Priority: Stop the Damage, Then Hire Smart
In any plumbing emergency, your first step should be shutting off the water and protecting your home. Once the immediate risk is contained, take a moment to confirm who you’re hiring. Emergency work still falls under Nevada licensing laws, and unlicensed repairs can create HOA issues, failed inspections, or costly corrections later.
Know Who Is Legally Allowed to Do Emergency Work
In Nevada, plumbers are certified by the Nevada Board of Plumbing Examiners, while plumbing businesses must be licensed through the Nevada State Contractors Board.
Even during an emergency, most major repairs—such as pipe replacements, sewer line work, or water heater swaps—must be handled by a licensed plumbing contractor. Individual plumbers (journeyman or master) must work under that licensed business.
The good news is that several reputable plumbing companies offer 24/7 emergency services right here in Providence and across Clark County.
Among the trusted names you can turn to are Loyalty Plumbing, a veteran-owned company offering emergency repair and replacement with 24/7 availability.
Provision Plumbing offers drain cleaning, plumbing repairs, and help with water heaters.
Bro Plumbing LLC also provides around-the-clock emergency services, extending to neighboring areas like Centennial Hills and Lone Mountain.
Other key players include Rooter Ranger, Anytime Plumbing, Heating & Cooling—who bring over 40 years of experience to the table—Pure Plumbing & Air, 365 Plumbing (a family-owned business with over 50 years of combined experience), Code Red Emergency Plumbing, and Leak Experts USA.
All these companies serve the Las Vegas Valley, including our Providence community.
Emergency Repairs Still Require Permits
Providence is located in Clark County, where many emergency repairs still require permits after the fact. A legitimate plumber will:
- Explain whether a permit is required
- Pull the permit themselves
- Schedule follow-up inspections if needed
Be cautious of anyone who says permits “don’t apply in emergencies.” Temporary fixes may be allowed, but permanent repairs must meet code.
What to Ask During an Emergency Call
Even under pressure, ask these quick questions:
- Are you a licensed Nevada plumbing contractor?
- Can you provide your license number?
- Do you carry liability and workers’ compensation insurance?
- Will this repair require a permit, and will you handle it?
A professional plumber will answer clearly and confidently.
Red Flags to Avoid
- Cash-only emergency pricing
- No license number on invoice or truck
- Pressure to replace systems without explanation
- Refusal to provide written documentation
A Smart Homeowner Tip
Before an emergency happens, keep the contact information of a licensed Nevada plumbing contractor saved in your phone. When water is spreading fast, preparation can be the difference between a quick repair and a long-term problem. |
